The Courier Program (by Kate Freund and I)
Channel 101 PilotThe biggest bummer about this not coming back is that Kate is great to work with and we had a LOT of ideas on what to do with this as a series. Also, it’s sad that we don’t get to drive out to the desert with Nate Cornett and shoot some really cool shit this month, especially as things cool down.
Of course, now we don’t have to drive out to the desert. I don’t mind that.
The people that we got for this were also better than I ever could have hoped to have in this show and they made for fun shoot despite the heat.
I think I finally learned to enjoy 50/50 collaboration on this one. Most of my projects, with rare exceptions, I still tried to maintain that control over what happened, and in a lot of cases you need that, but there are so many things you gain when working with a fun collaborator. Certain ideas and decisions come a lot quicker and overall you can rely on someone else to do things you don’t have time to do and vice-versa.
I think I’ll do that more in the future. Hopefully, I get to make a show with Kate again someday, but it probably won’t be until the new year.
Should this have done better? Maybe. We threw a lot at people and I’m sure it was hard to keep up. I need to make something longer than five minutes already.
This is an awesome show! Really wish it was coming back!
The desert girl gang in Aaron and Kate’s “Courier Program” should probably get their own spin-off show. Just sayin.
