[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

A few weeks ago, Julia taught me and Katie Crown how to animate in flash

Today, Tony taught me and Carson how to use after effects

YEAH TAKING THIS UNEMPLOYMENT THING TO THE NEXT LEVEL!

Erin Pearce is an amazing animator to-be. We had a tutorial sesh where I had the two girls make an animation based off Katie Crown doing an impression of the mid 90’s Akira dub. This took 6 hours to make.

Went to a screening of Akira tonight at the LA Animation Festival. I’ve seen it a few times since I first watched it with my brother when I was 11, but have never gotten to see it on a big screen. Appreciation on an entirely new level. Fucking astounding. The effects animation alone will blow your mind.

Crazy to think this came out the year before the Little Mermaid. Imagining the tedium of working on an animated film in a pre-digital age makes me want to kill myself.

This Chipotle commercial is one of the most impressive and effective ads I’ve seen in a long time. A story about a farmer who grows his farm to irresponsible proportions. Directed by Johnny Kelly. Made by Clapham Studios.

Single shot. 50 foot set. All practical stop motion(!!!)

Watch the MAKING OF.

Katie Crown gave us some weird-ass audio so we made her a cartoon!

Designs by me, animation by PUNY.

From The Archives: Call in sick tomorrow: MTV has just released a massive archive of Liquid Television shorts, including Dog-Boy, The Maxx,  and Joe Normal.
The cult animation showcase aired for three seasons on MTV during the early 90s. Following the end of its run in 1994, the show spawned several well-known spin-offs, including Beavis and Butt-head and Æon Flux.

FINALLY.

Art of the Title posted a hi-res version of the Super credit sequence and did a little interview with PUNY about the process of making them. Just want to reiterate how much Mike Owens killed it with directing this sequence.
The “crude” character designs/layouts are probably some of my favorite things I’ve ever done.

Cartoon Brew posted PUNY’s “intentionally primitive” credit sequence for Super! Take a look. And then go see it in a theater.

The trailer for SUPER (!!!)- Directed by James Gunn

Animation/graphics courtesy of me and my brothers at PUNY. This project is very close to my heart and I will be annoyingly reminding you of the April 1st release date as it creeps closer.
